Cross Washing Roulette
- Cross washing means betting opposite sides of the same live roulette spin at two casinos, with a small hedge on green
- It doesn't beat the house edge: you still pay 2.7% of everything you wager
- It's fast, but casinos ban for it, and one glitched bet can erase months of gains
Cross washing is the advanced roulette play that keeps coming up in sweeps circles. It works exactly as advertised, and I still don't do it.
How Cross Washing Works
Live roulette from a provider like Iconic21 is one physical wheel streamed to many casinos. Open the same table at two casinos and both accounts are betting on the same spin.
- Confirm both casinos show the same table: same dealer, same results
- Bet Red at Casino A and the same amount on Black at Casino B
- Hedge the 0 with a green bet worth 1/18 of one side, at one casino or split across both
Whatever lands, one side wins what the other loses. If the bets themselves are new to you, start with the roulette strategy guide.
It Doesn't Beat the House Edge
You might think opposite bets cancel the house edge altogether. They can't. Say you bet 180 SC on each side and 5 SC on 0 at each casino:
| Spin lands | Casino A (Red + 0) | Casino B (Black + 0) | Combined |
|---|---|---|---|
| Red | +175 SC | -185 SC | -10 SC |
| Black | -185 SC | +175 SC | -10 SC |
| 0 | -5 SC | -5 SC | -10 SC |
Every outcome loses 10 SC on 370 SC wagered: 2.70%, the same edge as every other roulette bet. Skipping green changes nothing on average: 36 spins in 37 net to zero, then the 0 takes all 360 SC, which works out to 9.73 SC a spin, also 2.70%. Green just turns a rare big loss into a small fixed fee. You aren't dodging the edge, you're prepaying it.
Why People Do It
- Speed. Each account wagers its whole balance at once, so in theory you clear 1x playthrough on both in as little as one spin, with no swing in your combined balance.
- Escaping bad redemption logistics. If one casino has a high redemption minimum, a daily limit, or slow payouts, and that side loses, your money now sits at the casino that's easy to cash out. The catch: half the time the bad casino wins, and everything is stuck there instead.
Why I Don't
- Casinos don't like it. Hedged betting breaks most casinos' terms, and sister sites under one parent company can see both sides of the bet. If they catch you, expect limited or banned accounts.
- Glitches. If one bet fails to place and the other side loses, the hedge is gone. In the example that's 185 SC, as much as the house edge on about 6,800 SC of normal washing. It can wipe out whatever you made from sales and freebies. Every couple of months the same story plays out in our Discord: one side glitched.
I personally don't cross wash. The negatives outweigh the positives. Min-bet even money is slower, but it doesn't put your accounts on the line.
FAQ
Is cross washing allowed?
Almost never. Most casinos' terms prohibit hedged or coordinated betting, so assume any account you use for it is at risk.
Does cross washing beat the house edge?
No. Hedged or not, you lose 2.7% of the total wagered across both casinos. It removes variance, not cost.
Can you cross wash on American roulette?
You'd have to cover both 0 and 00, and the cost jumps to 5.26%. Single zero only.
